Assistant Professor of Applied GIS | Ph.D. in Geography | Urban Data Scientist

Hi! I'm Qingqing, an Assistant Professor of Applied GIS in the School of Integrated Sciences at James Madison University, where I’m also be part of the CSM Environmental Data Science group. My research focuses on critically understanding how cities function by leveraging (geo)computational techniques and data informatics. I'm particularly interested in Urban Data Science, Geocomputation, Urban Sensory Experience, Spatial Analysis & Visualization, and Social Media & Big Data.

I received a Ph.D. in Geography from the University at Buffalo, under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Crooks. I hold an M.Sc. in Physics from National University of Singapore and B.Sc. in Physics from Minjiang University. Prior to starting my Ph.D., I worked as a Research Associate at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and as a Research Engineer at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology Centre (SMART).
